FAQ: Lithium Battery UPS Communication & Remote Monitoring
Last updated 2026-08-25
Remote visibility turns a standalone lithium battery UPS into a managed power asset. This FAQ covers the communication interfaces, BMS data reporting, SNMP cards, ET series ports, centralized monitoring, and alarm notification on High Idea Power systems.
1. Which communication interfaces are provided?
Standard models expose an RS232 port, with an RS-232/485 bidirectional converter available for industrial protocols (300 bps to 115.2 kbps, MODBUS), bridging the UPS into building-management or SCADA networks. For Ethernet, SNMP network monitoring cards are offered as slot-in options.
2. How do I read BMS data (SOC, voltage, temperature)?
The BMS reports real-time data through the monitoring channel. In the SmartUPS cloud app and web interface, the UPS list shows battery capacity (%), battery voltage, UPS temperature, input/output voltage, output frequency, and load percentage — letting you verify state of charge and thermal condition remotely without visiting the rack.
3. What does the SNMP card offer?
The SmartUPS cloud management card provides SNMP over RJ45, web/Java interface, WiFi, and cloud management. It ships in auto-IP mode; pressing reset three times fixes it to 192.168.0.239, and IP/password are configurable in the app or web UI. It supports safe server shutdown on Windows/Linux and automatic NAS shutdown (SNMP) for Synology and QNAP, using UDP ports 9600/9601.
4. ET series communication ports?
The ET1K/ET2K/ET3K tower units carry an RS232 port. The ET6KRS/ET10KRS rack models add a parallel port and an intelligent card slot alongside RS232, so one host can run redundant/expansion configurations while a monitoring card is installed.
5. Data-center centralized monitoring?
For SNMP management, install the WEBPOWER card (RFC1628) integrating with any NMS. For serial/MODBUS, use the RS-232/485 converter to report UPS status into a central platform. Multiple SmartUPS cards on one LAN are auto-discovered by the app or Windows client — convenient for whole rooms of High Idea Power lithium UPS units.
6. What alarm notifications are available?
The SmartUPS cloud card pushes alarms to the mobile app and WeChat automatically on: utility failure, utility restore, low battery, overload, and UPS fault. A relay/dry-contact card (AS400 type) is also available for hard-wired alarm output into a building alarm panel — both cloud notifications and local contact-closure alerts.
