Power & Telecom Inverters

DC bus in, clean isolated AC out — inverter systems for sites where the primary source is a station battery or telecom DC panel, not the utility grid.

HighIdea Power & Telecom Inverters convert a DC bus into clean, galvanically isolated AC. They are built for sites where the primary source is a battery bank or a station DC panel rather than the utility grid: substations and power plants, telecom base stations, railway signalling, HVDC data rooms, RTU/SCADA cabinets and industrial control panels.

These are not solar inverters. Solar (PV) inverters in the Solar Inverters range are designed around an MPPT charger and a PV array; power and telecom inverters are designed around a DC bus, strict AC/DC isolation, no back-feed noise into the DC system and zero or near-zero transfer time. Where the site needs an AC-input UPS with its own battery instead, see UPS Power Supply.

The range is split by operating principle:

  • Online DC-AC Inverters — full double conversion, 0 ms transfer and continuous inverter-fed output. H 1-3kVA, H 6-20k, HM 3-15kVA, HP 6k and HT 1-20k.
  • Standby & Offline Inverters — AC-priority or DC-priority operation with a fast transfer, higher efficiency and a lower cost where a brief switch is acceptable. HB 5/10k and HTB 1-12kVA.

Specifying a unit. Confirm the DC bus voltage first (12 / 24 / 36 / 48 / 60 / 72 / 110 / 220 / 240VDC or a wide 160-300VDC window), then the required kVA and kW, the output voltage and frequency (220 / 230 / 240Vac, 50 or 60Hz), the acceptable transfer time, and whether galvanic isolation or an external isolation transformer is mandated. Also state the battery chemistry, the required autonomy and the communication protocol (RS485 / SNMP / Modbus) for the site monitoring system.

All models are built in our own factory and support OEM/ODM customization of capacity, DC input voltage, output voltage, enclosure format, communication protocol and branding. Pair them with LiFePO4 battery packs or a conventional VRLA string sized to the site's autonomy requirement.

Power & Telecom Inverters — frequently asked questions

How is this different from a solar inverter?
Power and telecom inverters run from a DC bus or battery bank and are built for galvanic isolation and no back-feed noise into the DC system. Solar inverters are built around an MPPT charger and a PV array; see Solar Inverters for those.
What is the difference between online and standby models?
Online DC-AC inverters use full double conversion with 0 ms transfer and continuous inverter-fed output (H, HM, HP and HT series). Standby and offline units (HB, HTB) run AC-priority or DC-priority with a fast transfer, higher efficiency and a lower cost.
Which DC bus voltages are supported?
Standard ranges cover 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 72, 110, 220 and 240VDC, plus wide 160-300VDC windows on selected models. State the bus voltage, kVA/kW, output voltage and transfer-time requirement when requesting a quotation.
Do these replace a UPS?
No. A UPS protects AC loads from an AC mains feed with its own battery and transfer path. A power or telecom inverter supplies AC from an existing DC bus. For AC-input backup, see UPS Power Supply.
