Category
Power & Telecom Inverters

The HM Series is HighIdea's modular telecom inverter platform. A standard 19-inch frame is populated with 3kVA inverter modules; up to five can operate in parallel for a maximum of 15kVA, with a 4+1 configuration giving redundancy without a separate UPS cabinet.

Design notes

With mains present, the load is supplied from bypass. When mains fails or goes out of tolerance, the system transfers to battery inverter operation and delivers a clean 220Vac / 50Hz sine wave from the 48VDC bus. The design includes battery under/over-voltage protection, output over-voltage protection, output under-voltage alarm, short-circuit and over-temperature protection, and RS485 reporting for remote monitoring.

Automatic start-up is triggered when the DC input exceeds 48 VDC (or mains is present on charging versions); a DC cold start can be initiated from the front panel when no mains is available. The external battery bank is normally a VRLA string sized to the site's autonomy requirement.

Configuration

Specify the number of modules, the required redundancy, the 48VDC battery capacity and the monitoring interface. For a simpler fixed-capacity rack or portable unit see the HP 6k; for utility DC buses see the H 1-3kVA.

Key Features

  • Standard 19-inch rack frame built from 3kVA inverter modules
  • Up to five modules in parallel for 15kVA, with 4+1 redundancy
  • Mains bypass under normal conditions, automatic inverter transfer on failure
  • Pure sine 220Vac / 50Hz output from a 48VDC battery bus
  • RS485 reporting of status and alarms to the site monitoring system
  • DC cold start and automatic restart on DC or mains recovery
  • Battery under/over-voltage, output over-voltage, short-circuit and over-temperature protection

Applications

Telecom equipment rooms

Add 3kVA blocks as the load grows without replacing the whole system.

Modular IT & edge rooms

4+1 redundancy in a standard rack footprint.

Industrial control & security

RS485 reporting into a building or plant monitoring system.

FAQ

How does the modular architecture work?
The frame accepts up to five 3kVA inverter modules. Four can carry the load while the fifth provides N+1 redundancy, so a failed module does not interrupt output.
What happens when mains fails?
Under normal conditions the load is fed from bypass; on a mains failure the system transfers to battery inverter operation and delivers 220Vac / 50Hz pure sine power.
Can it start without mains?
Yes. DC cold start is supported, and the unit restarts automatically when the 48VDC bus or mains returns to the valid range.
