UPS Battery Maintenance: Key to Ensuring Continuous Power Supply
Last updated 2025-11-17
UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) safeguards equipment at critical moments, with its battery serving as the core component. Proper maintenance of UPS batteries can extend their service life and ensure the stable operation of UPS systems. Below are several important maintenance methods.
Regular Visual Inspection of Batteries
It is crucial to conduct regular visual checks on batteries. Examine the battery case for deformation or leakage. If bulging or liquid seepage is detected, replace the battery immediately to prevent impacts on the performance of the entire battery bank.
S trict Control of Operating Temperature
T he optimal operating temperature for UPS batteries is around 25℃. High temperatures accelerate battery aging, while low temperatures reduce battery capacity. Install air conditioning or heat dissipation equipment to maintain a suitable temperature environment.
Regular Charging and Discharging
Un der long-term float charging, battery plates may undergo sulfation, leading to reduced capacity. Perform a deep discharge every 3-6 months, followed by a full charge. This activates the active substances on the battery plates and restores battery capacity.
Monitoring of Voltage and Internal Resistance
Mon itoring battery voltage and internal resistance is also indispensable. Use professional tools to regularly measure the voltage and internal resistance of each battery cell. If abnormal values are found, troubleshoot the problem promptly.
