The RP Series 2U is a rack-mount AC-DC switching supply built for small and medium communication and power systems. It converts a 110 or 220Vac mains feed into a regulated 24 / 48 / 110 / 220VDC bus for exchanges, microwave links, digital equipment, optical transmission gear and station DC panels.

Design notes

Each module uses a dual-transistor forward topology with isolation between modules, so a fault stays inside one module. In an N+1 configuration the remaining modules continue to supply the load and share current automatically — a failed unit can be taken out without disturbing the others. The wide input window covers both 110Vac and 220Vac grid standards and the voltage swings common on remote sites, while the -10 to +50 deg C rating keeps full output in unconditioned cabinets. A 3½-digit meter option gives local voltage and current readout.

Configuration

Specify the DC bus voltage, the load current and the N+1 spare count, the AC feed, and whether the meter version is required. The common builds are 4830 / 4850 / 48100 for 48V plants and 11020 / 22010 for 110 / 220V station buses. Where the source is already DC, use the RP DC-DC Converter instead; for a complete 48V embedded system with monitoring and distribution see the RT4860.

Key Features

  • Dual-transistor forward switching topology with isolation between modules
  • N+1 parallel redundancy with automatic current sharing
  • Wide AC input covering both 110Vac and 220Vac grid standards
  • Standard 19-inch 2U chassis for rack and cabinet installation
  • Full rated output from -10 to +50 deg C
  • Optional 3½-digit meter showing output voltage and current
  • Compact, lightweight module that can run alone or in parallel

Applications

Substation DC panels

Regulated DC for protection, control and signalling circuits from a 110 / 220Vac station supply.

Telecom equipment rooms

48VDC plant for switches, microwave links and optical transmission equipment.

Industrial control cabinets

Isolated DC rails where mains voltage swings are common.

FAQ

Which output voltage should I order?
Match the site DC bus. 48V covers telecom plant, 110 / 220V covers utility DC panels, and 24V covers control circuits. The voltage is set at the factory.
Can several modules share one load?
Yes. Modules run in N+1 parallel with automatic current sharing; a failed module does not affect the others or interrupt the load.
Does it accept unstable mains?
The wide input design covers both 110Vac and 220Vac grid standards and tolerates the voltage swings typical of remote and industrial sites.
