The RT4860 is a complete 48V embedded telecom power system in a 1U 19-inch frame. It is built for small program-controlled exchanges, access networks, transmission equipment, mobile communication, satellite earth stations and microwave links, and for any other site that needs a compact, monitored DC plant.
Design notes
The standard system contains two 4830 rectifier modules, one monitoring module and DC distribution with a battery circuit and a load circuit. While mains is healthy, the controller manages rectifier and distribution parameters according to preset values or operator commands. On mains failure the battery takes over; as the bus falls, the controller raises a low-voltage alarm at 46VDC and disconnects the load at 43VDC by default. Both thresholds and other monitoring data can be reconfigured from the host software. Output resumes automatically when mains returns. Above 55 deg C ambient the system derates its output to protect the modules.
Configuration
Confirm the load current, battery string capacity and chemistry, the number of distribution circuits, the alarm and disconnect setpoints, and the remote monitoring protocol. For a 24V bus see the RT2430 1U; for systems that must scale to 800A see the RT 30-800A.
